Mr. Tilley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish statistics of injuries sustained during the periods July 1981 and June 1982 by young people on youth opportunities programmes.

Information about the major types of injuries is available only for the period 1 July 1981 to 31 March 1982 and is as follows: falls 20 per cent.; entrapment 17 per cent.; impact (excluding falls) 13 per cent.; contact with blade 10 per cent.; falling objects 9 per cent.; abrasions 7 per cent.

The remaining categories of accidents included injuries from heating and lifting. Information about injuries in the period March to June 1982 is not yet available.
