HC Deb 27 January 1982 vol 16 c386W
Mr. Robert C. Brown

asked the Lord Privy Seal if, in the light of the continuing persecution of minorities, including members of the Baha'i faith in Iran, he will make further representations to end such treatment.

Mr. Hurd

We deplore all human rights violations, including any directed against minorities.

Twice since August 1981, United Kingdom representatives at the United Nations have condemned persecution of Baha'is in Iran. The question of human rights in Iran is on the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva, so that the attention of the Iranian Government can again be drawn to the widespread international concern at their treatment of Baha'is in Iran.
