§ 27. Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how the granting by the European Economic Community of a quota of herring to Canada for the Danish market will affect Scottish exports of herring to Denmark; and whether steps have been taken to protect the interests of Scottish fishermen.
§ Mr. YoungerAt present the import of duty-free herring into the Community is not subject to restriction. Following the new fish marketing regime agreed in September, however, quantitative restrictions on such imports are to be introduced. This should assist the export of Scottish herring to Denmark and other countries.
