§ Mr. WhitelawThe attention of the Chief Constable has been drawn to the views expressed in the House following my statement on 19 January. The deployment of individual officers within the force is a matter for the Chief Constable, who fully appreciates the need for public confidence in officers given responsibility for the investigation of serious crime.
