HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 c64W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why the non-householders housing addition in the supplementary benefit scheme was increased by more than the rate of inflation at the recent uprating; how many losers and gainers there are expected to be due to the increase; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

The non-householders' contribution was increased in line with the increase in the housing component of the retail price index over the 12 months to February 1981, that is by 18 per cent. This could not result in any losers.
