asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many patients at Carstairs, Moss Side, Rampton and Broadmoor hospitals, respectively, had their cases considered by mental health tribunals in each of the last five years.

The State hospital, Carstairs, comes within the responsibilities of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland under separate Scottish legislation which does not provide for mental health review tribunals.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many patients were discharged from Carstairs, Moss Side, Rampton and Broadmoor hospitals, respectively, during each of the last five years (a) by hospital staff (b) by a tribunal; and how many of these patients in each of those categories were re-admitted (i) within six months, (ii) between six and 12 months and (iii) over 12 months after discharge.
