HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 c41W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the composition, functions and cost to public funds of the Local Government Consultative Committee.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Local Government Consultative Committee is chaired by the Minister responsible for the Northern Ireland Department of the Environment and is attended by members of the executive committee of the Association of Local Authorities in Northern Ireland, local authority officials and Departmental officials. The meetings of the committee provide a forum for discussion of matters of common interest to central and local government, including expenditure of local government.

The cost to public funds in 1981 was approximately £2, 000—exclusive of any payments by district councils to councillors and officials.
