HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 cc61-2W
Mr. Durant

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the status of any relationship between Her Majesty's Government and the International Union for Health Education; whether it is in receipt of public funds and, if so, what is the amount of any such contribution; and if the policies advocated by the union reflect those of the Department of Health and Social Security and the Health Education Council.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

There is no direct Government relationship with the International Union of Health Education, but I understand that the Health Education Council, which is mainly Government financed, is represented on the union's executive committee and pays an annual subscription, currently of £1, 700.

The union's broad aim of promoting health education is one to which both this Government and the Health Education Council attach great importance.
