HC Deb 18 January 1982 vol 16 c13W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the concern expressed by a number of senior police officers at the large numbers of robberies, burglaries, attacks upon the person, and offences known as mugging, which occurred prior to, during and subsequent to the Christmas and new year holiday period, he will publish in the Official Report as much detailed information as may be readily available from the Metropolitan Police area, London borough of Newham and nationally of these types of offences which occurred during the month of December 1981 and up to 1 January 1982; and in how many of these cases people were attacked and died as a result of such attacks.

Mr. Mayhew

Information on serious offences recorded by the police in the period requested is not yet available. Such information for England and Wales as a whole in the fourth quarter of 1981 will be published in a Home Office statistical bulletin, planned for the second half of March.
