HC Deb 24 February 1982 vol 18 c420W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if any Minister in his Department is, or will be, directly involved in discussions about permission to build a private hospital in Battersea, South London, on National Health Service land set aside for the homeless and mentally ill; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

Three-quarters of the site of the former Battersea general hospital is vested in the Secretary of State for the Environment and one quarter is vested in the Secretary of State for Social Services. Proposals to build a resettlement unit on the site were abandoned last November. My hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for the Environment and I are now considering the future use of the site.
