§ Sir Timothy Kitsonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many cases of Aujeszky's disease in pigs have been notified to his Department in the last three years.
§ Mrs. FennerAujeszky's disease was made notifiable on 1 August 1979. Since then 54 outbreaks have been confirmed as follows:
1 August 1979–31 December 1979 8 1980 22 1981 10 1982 up to 18 February 14 Of the 14 outbreaks up to mid-February, 11 are linked to a single case in Lincolnshire. There is no evidence to suggest that the recent increase in the number of outbreaks indicates an increase in the virulence of the disease.
