asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he proposes to take to provide adequate financial resources to police authorities in England and Wales.

The Government have made provision for the police service nationally which takes account of the increase in police strength, the improvements in pay, and fully reflects the priority to be given to the maintenance of law and order.
