HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 cc201-2W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much land owned by the National Health Service has been sold since May 1979; where it is; what was the sale price; and what proposals he has to make further sales.

Dr. Vaughan

Records of all individual transactions are not held centrally, but 1,406 acres of surplus National Health Service land were sold during the two years to March 1981, the last date for which figures are currently available, for a total of £25.5 million. A further 4,000 acres had been declared surplus and awaited disposal in April 1981. Health authorities are required to keep their land holdings under continual review and to release land with no current or planned use.
