HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c194W
39. Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the net growth in the immigrant and immigrant descended population resident in the United Kingdom for each of the last three years.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The only part of the immigrant and immigrant descended population for which annual estimates of numbers are made is the population of New Commonwealth and Pakistani ethnic origin. For the year to mid-1978, the increase was 74,000–4.0 per cent.; for the year to mid-1979 it was 93,000–4.8 per cent.; and for the year to mid-1980, the latest for which information is available, it was 91,000–4.5 per cent.
