HC Deb 18 February 1982 vol 18 c204W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give details of the arrangements for reciprocal recognition of orange badges in EEC countries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

In accordance with a recommendation of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport, the United Kingdom and 12 other countries operating concessionary parking schemes for the disabled—Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland—have agreed to participate in reciprocal arrangements whereby the concessions of the host country are available to disabled visitors displaying their own national badge. Full details of the concessions available have been sent to organisations representing the disabled and to the motoring organisations.
