§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much has been spent in each of the last five years on advertising for donors to the blood transfusion service; and if there are plans for a national advertising programme to be launched in the near future to encourage people to become donors.
§ Dr. Vaughan[pursuant to his reply, 15 February 1982, Vol. 18, c. 49]: Responsibility for the recruitment of blood donors rests primarily with each regional blood transfusion 203W centre which adapts its advertising to local needs, and information on costs is not available centrally. Expenditure by the Department in the last five years on advertising campaigns and a wide range of publicity material for the national blood transfusion service was as follows:
