§ 3. Mr. Michael Morrisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment to whom he intends that the Local Government Audit Commission will be ultimately responsible.
§ Mr. KingUnder the Local Government Finance (No. 2) Bill the Secretary of State will be answerable to Parliament for his functions in respect of the commission; the Comptroller and Auditor General will examine the commission's annual statement of accounts and report to Parliament on it; and the commission, and the auditors it will appoint, will be answerable to the courts in respect of their statutory duties and powers.
