§ Mr. Michael Brownasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take further steps to encourage local authorities to make savings by using contractors.
§ Mr. KingMy colleagues and I take every opportunity to impress upon local authorities the scope for making savings in this way and will continue to do so. I am glad to note the interest that an increasing number of authorities are taking in these possibilities.
