§ Mr. Cryerasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many members of staff of the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate are currently seconded from the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.
§ Mr. WaddingtonI am advised by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that there are three officers on temporary secondment from the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. These are additional to the total of 96 inspectors currently in post.
§ Mr. Cryerasked the Secretary of State for Employment what are (a) the number and (b) the grades by which the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is currently short of establishment; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaddingtonI am advised by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the number of nuclear installations inspectors currently in post is six fewer than the current target of 102 for which budgetary provision has been made for 1982–83. The grades are one principal nuclear inspector and five nuclear inspectors.
The current campaign to recruit up to 102 inspector; is continuing.
