§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeI understand that the Maryport Harbour Act 1939 was the last local Act or order passed relating to Maryport harbour. It dealt mainly with the harbour's finances and authorised the commissioners to borrow £75,000 from the Commissioner for Special Areas in England and Wales. It also provided, among other things, for the conversion and cancellation of existing mortgages. The Act amended and repealed a number of provisions in earlier Maryport legislation.
