§ The Prime MinisterSr. Areilza and I discussed the role of the Parliamentary Assembly with particular reference to his proposal that the Council of Europe should organise a series of "Strasbourg Conferences" with representation of parliamentary and democratic systems from other parts of the world. We agreed that the Council of Europe could play a major part in strengthening the tries between democracies world-wide.
We also discussed the invitation first delivered to me by President de Koster to address the Assembly, which I hope to take up in 1983.
