§ Mr. MayhewFigures for men aged over 65 years are not readily available but the supplementary tables to the Command Paper "Criminal Statistics England and Wales" show that about 2,900 men and 2,500 women aged 60 and over were found guilty in 1980 by all courts in England and Wales.
