§ Sir John Biggs-Davison asked the Lord Privy Seal, pursuant to the answer to the hon. Member for Newcastle upon Tyne, West (Mr. Brown) Official Report, 27 January, column 386, if he will make a statement on discussions at the current meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva, with particular reference to the subject of the treatment of the Baha'is in Iran.
§ Mr. HurdThe European Commission of Human Rights will study and report on violations of human rights in many countries. Discussion of, among other matters, Iran, including the plight of the Baha'is, is scheduled to begin at the end of February under an agenda item on violations of human rights in any part of the world. We and other countries intend to make clear the widespread concern at the treatment of the Baha'is in Iran.
