§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the concern felt by the general public at the rapid growth in crime in general and that of armed robbery, muggings and attacks on the person in particular, he will arrange for a national conference to be called under the auspices of his Department to ascertain what action could be taken to reduce the present level of crime.
§ Mr. MayhewNo. The Home Office is in constant touch with the police and other services which, with the Government's full support, are directly engaged in action against crime.
