§ Mr. Banksasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will take steps to curb the import into the United Kingdom of textiles imported by European Economic Community countries from overseas countries when agreed quota imports are being exceeded by the exporting member country.
§ Mr. Peter ReesWhen a formal quota is in place in the United Kingdom against imports from a third country, we can apply to the Commission under article 115 of the Treaty of Rome for authority to require licences for imports of such goods via another member State and, in certain cases, for authority not to issue such licences. The Government make full use of these arrangements and will continue to do so.
