HC Deb 10 February 1982 vol 17 cc375-6W
56. Mr. Sheerman

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many civil servants are concerned with industrial development in Yorkshire and Humberside.

Mr. MacGregor

It is not possible to provide a comprehensive figure without disproportionate time and effort, since, in addition to a number of Government Departments which have staff in the region itself, those same Departments and others have headquarters staff in London and elsewhere who spend a proportion of their time on such work.

The number of staff in the regional office of the Departments of Industry and Trade at Leeds engaged directly on industrial development work in the region is estimated at 49.
