HC Deb 09 February 1982 vol 17 c346W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether any change is being made in the Class XI Vote 1 cash block—health and personal social services, England, 1981–82.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

Subject to Parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimate, the cash limit will be increased by £6,000,000 from £7,618,882,000 to £7,624,882,000 to allow for unexpected expenditure in the current financial year by certain health authorities. Some payments that should have been made in 1980–81 were delayed by industrial action at some NHS computer centres. The total additional expenditure was £15 million but this has been partially offset by reductions of £9 million elsewhere within the cash block. The additional provision will be found from the Contingency Reserve and will not therefore add to total public expenditure.
