§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, in the light of the growing practice of violence against school teachers by pupils and their parents, whether he will cause an investigation to be made to ascertain how wide this practice is; what action can or should be taken to halt it; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Dr. BoysonAlthough my right hon. Friend and I deplore the use of violence against teachers, we are not satisfied that an investigation would help. Responsibility for action lies with local education authorities and schools.
