HC Deb 04 February 1982 vol 17 c202W
Mr. Arnold

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any change has been made to the cash limit for the Treasury Solicitor's Department Class IX, Vote 12.

Mr. Brittan

The original cash limit has been reduced by £156,000 from £8,871,000 to £8,715,000. Savings have been achieved by an earlier than planned rundown of staff numbers, difficulties in recruiting suitable staff and rigorous control of domestic costs.

The savings are being applied to offset the additional provision required for the non-cash limited, Class IX, Vote 3—costs and fees in civil litigation.
