§ Mr. AlisonAt 14 January, the provisional number of people registered as unemployed in the Northern Region was 222,176. The corresponding figure for mid-Northumberland was 11,631. Mid-Northumberland has been taken as the area covered by the Alnwick, Amble, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Cramlington and Morpeth employment offices.
