§ Mr. AlisonThe percentage rates of unemployment for males and females in North Staffordshire were 15.5 and 10.8 per cent. respectively at January 1982. The corresponding rates at January 1979 were 5.3 and 2.4 per cent. The figures relate to the area covered by the employment offices of Biddulph, Burslem, Cheadle, Henley, Kidsgrove, Leek, Longton, Newcastle under Lyne, Stoke on Trent and Uttoxeter. They exclude Stone, which is part of the Stafford travel-to-work area.
