§ Mr. Speedasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the number and total cost of German nationals employed by his Department in Germany on 1 January and at the same time in 1981, 1980 and 1979, respectively.
§ Mr. BlakerAll records of locally employed are totals which include German nationals, dependants of United Kingdom Service men and the minority labour groups in Germany. It would involve a disproportionate effort to separate the figures for German nationals. The totals of all locally employed were as follows:
1 January 1979 — 20,617
1 January 1980 — 19,724
1 January 1981 — 18,915
1 January 1982 — 18,298
