§ 20. Mr. Newensasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on relations between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of Turkey.
§ Mr. HurdAs I told the hon. Member for Liverpool, Scotland Exchange (Mr. Party) in a written reply on 24 November—[Vol. 32, c.518]—we have close and friendly links with Turkey as a member of the Atlantic Alliance. We welcome the progress made by Turkey in her return to democracy. Our relations continue to be guided by the statement issued by the Foreign Ministers of the Nine member States of the European Community on 15 September 1980.
