HC Deb 22 December 1982 vol 34 c567W
Mr. McKelvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what targets for the disposal of new town assets have been set in each year since 1979; and how far they have been met.

Sir George Young

Town by town figures for the disposal of English new town commercial and industrial assets, for the three years 1979–80 to 1981–82, were given in my reply of 6 December 1982 to my hon. Friend the Member for Hertford and Stevenage (Mr. Wells). As my hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction explained in his reply of 9 June 1982 to the hon. Member, to publish the indications we have given towns of the amounts they might be expected to raise through sales could jeopardise their negotiating positions.—[Vol. 33: c.408 Vol. 25: c. 144.]
