HC Deb 22 December 1982 vol 34 cc609-10W
Mr. Arnold

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the numbers and grades of staff in the British Information Service in the United States; where they serve and whether each person is exclusively engaged in work for the British Information Service.

Mr. Hurd

The following staff are employed in the British Information Service in the United States:

conditions in which she is presently held in custody; what representations Her Majesty's consul has made on her behalf about her sentence; and when he expects sentence to be passed.

Mr. Onslow

Our consul in Los Angeles visited Miss Jennings on 3 November and maintains regular contact by telephone. By choice she has a cell to herself. Her accommodation is good by prison standards. Sentence will be passed on 30 December. No formal representations have been made on sentencing since the case remains sub judice.
