§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe Government are this year providing places for up to 630,000 unemployed young people under the youth opportunities programme at a cost of £750 million. We are spending £250 million to enable more than 60,000 unemployed adults to train or retrain under the training opportunities scheme. A sum of £70 million has also been made available to industry under the training for skills programme primarily to support initial skill training for up to 35,000 first year or redundant apprentices.
