§ Mr. Michael Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he expects to be in a position to place orders for a point defence system for Royal Naval ships in the current financial year.
§ Mr. PattieWe intend to place a further order during this financial year for improved Seawolf point defence missile systems which will be fitted to the new type 22 frigates ordered recently. Although we will not be in a position to place orders for other point defence systems before the end of the financial year, we expect to do so later in 1983.
