Mr. John Towendasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give the number of acres of agricultural land owned by the Crown Estate Commissioners in England and Wales; and what percentage that is of the total agricultural land.
§ Mr. Brittan[pursuant to his reply, 20 December 1982, c. 314]: The Commissioners are responsible for 181,000 acres of agricultural land in England, and in Wales they hold some 67,000 acres of unenclosed waste land subject to common grazing rights. This is less than 1 per cent. of total agricultural land. Further information is available in the commissioners' annual report for the year ended March 1982.
