§ The Attorney-GeneralTo my knowledge there has been only one case in 1982 involving two men charged with murder, which was heard at the Central Criminal Court in June and July of this year, where the prosecution's case was severely hampered by Crown witnesses failing to appear. The Crown did not abandon its case against them but both accused were in due course acquitted by direction of the judge after submissions made at the close of the prosecution's case.
