asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which offences are imprisonable under the Road Traffic Acts.

A term of imprisonment may at the discretion of the courts be imposed for the following offences under the Road Traffic Acts:-

Road Traffic Act 1972

Section 1 Causing death by reckless driving
" 2 Reckless driving
Section 5(1) Driving or attempting to drive when unfit through drink or drugs
" 5(2) Being in charge of a vehicle when unfit through drink or drugs
" 6(1) Driving or attempting to drive with excess alcohol
" 6(2) Being in charge of a motor vehicle with excess alochol
" 9(3) Failing to provide a specimen for analysis (if driving, attempting to drive or in charge)
" 99(b) Driving while disqualified
" 169(1) Forgery, et cetera, of licences, test certificates, certificates of insurance and other documents and things (on indictment)
" 175 Taking etc, in Scotland, a vehicle without authority, el cetera
