§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will list the local authorities which have built dwellings by direct labour since 31 March 1981, naming the scheme in each case, the gross tender price, the number of dwellings involved, and indicating where possible those dwellings which were built for sale.

With the introduction of the new project control system on 1 April 1981 information as to the contractor for a given scheme ceased to be collected. However, as from 1 April 1981 housing starts and completions by local authority direct labour have been reported on the Department's voluntary enquiry on construction activity. About 80 per cent. of local authorities in England have replied to the inquiry and those reporting starts and completions for the period 1 April 1981 to 30 September 1982 have been as follows:
