HC Deb 13 December 1982 vol 34 cc35-6W
Mr. Lambie

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the reply to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe (Mr. Morris) on 30 November, Official Report, column 132, which voluntary organisations have made their views known to him as to the helpfulness of Her Majesty's Government in comparson with previous administrations.

Mr. Newton

In my earlier reply to which the hon. Member refers, I gave as an example the help given to charities by changes relating to deeds of covenant. Many charities have told Ministers that they appreciate those changes and other improvements introduced by my right hon. and learned Friend in his Budgets.

More generally, we welcome the support of many voluntary organisations for our aim of strengthening the partnership between the voluntary sector and statutory health and social services authorities, for which purpose central Government financial assistance has been paid at a higher rate than ever before.
