HL Deb 13 December 1982 vol 437 c469WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the public and police liaison committees (whether formally or informally constituted) which are currently functioning in Northern Ireland; and whether any such committes have ceased to function, and if so, why.

The Minister of State, Northern Ireland Office (The Earl of Gowrie)

Police and public liaison committees in Northern Ireland take the forms either of local security committees or of police liaison committees. Representatives from almost all local authorities in Northern Ireland attend one or both. The exceptions are Newry and Mourne District Council and Omagh District Council, neither of whom have sought meetings recently.
