§ Mr. MayhewWe have urged all magistrates' courts to give consideration to the specific suggestions for reducing time spent awaiting trial which were included in the report of the working group on magistrates' courts. I know that a number of courts have already adopted measures on these lines. My noble and learned Friend the Lord Chancellor gives the highest priority to increasing the resources available to the Crown court and to enhancing its efficiency.
