§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Industry what proposals he is considering concerning the feasibility of using alternatives to asbestos in order to reduce the incidence of asbestos-related diseases.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe Department of Industry has made the asbestos industry aware that it continues to be willing, under the terms of the various financial assistance schemes, to respond positively to requests for support for projects involving asbestos substitution. For reasons of commercial confidentiality it is not possible to be specific, but support has been offered, or is being considered, for a wide range of projects which cover many of the major applications of this material.
