HL Deb 13 December 1982 vol 437 c470WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What conditions they made about accepting a Palestinian representative in the Arab League delegation that was due in the United Kingdom on 26th November to discuss the Arab-Israeli dispute, and in what respects and why these differed from the conditions they make about meetings at the highest level with members of the Israeli Government.

Lord Skelmersdale

Our policy on contacts with the PLO is well-known and was set out most recently by my right honourable friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary in answer to questions in another place on 24th November. We do not impose conditions for meetings with members of the Israeli Government; there have been no recent meetings with the Israeli Government at the highest level, and none are planned at present.
