§ Mr. Marlowasked the Prime Minister how many officials are involved in each of the main entry clearance operations with regard to immigration from the Indian Sub-continent, including such actions as interviewing United Kingdom based sponsors, and interviewing potential immigrants based in the sub-continent.
§ The Prime MinisterThere are 39 entry clearance officers in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan who interview all entry clearance applicants there. Inquiries in connection with entry clearance applications also form part of the duties of the staff of the immigration and nationality department of the Home Office, including the immigration service, although none are employed solely on this work.
