§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will estimate the saving to United Kingdom consumers if food were available at world prices, on the basis used by the European Economic Community and the United Kingdom Government for the calculation of variables such as import levies and export rebates; and what further savings would be made if import 647W levies were no longer charged and transmitted to the European Economic Community and export rebates were no longer paid out for exports.

Friend the Member for Aldridge, Brownhills (Mr. Shepherd) on 8 December.—[Vol. 33, c.551.] Receipts of agricultural import levies in the United Kingdom in 1980, the last year for which complete figures are available, were £233.6 million, while expenditure in the United Kingdom on export refunds in 1981 was £222.8 million.
