§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what percentage of 2-year-olds, 5-year-olds and 10-year-olds have been immunised against poliomyelitis; and if he has any plans to encourage parents of unvaccinated children to have them vaccinated.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergBy the end of 1981 an estimated 82 per cent. of 2 and 5-year-olds and an estimated 87 per cent. of 10-year-olds in England and Wales had completed courses of immunisation against poliomyelitis, the higher percentage of 10-year-olds being largely attributable to immunisation after school entry. In view of this high level of protection and the rarity of cases in England and Wales, I see no need for special measures in relation to immunisation uptake.
