§ Mr. Heddleasked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has recently received regarding the payment of interest on claims under the Land Compensation Acts; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. David HowellMy Department has received representations that interest should be compound and that accrued interest should be payable when advance payments of compensation are made under section 52 of the Land Compensation Act 1973. Any question of changing the general law to that effect would be primarily a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment.
